As part of our 'Meet the Flintstones' topic, we explored how prehistoric man survived, initially as the hunter-gatherer, progressing to become foragers and eventually farmers. To re-live this, we had a wonderful outdoor learning experience with the fantastic Mrs UG! We have amazing woodland surrounding us here and were able to have this experience here at school. The children foraged for fresh berries and fruit, made a fire, cooked using only basic ingredients, adding flavours with natural sweeteners! We also created our very own spears from surrounding sticks.
Mrs UG was exceptionally impressed with our 'survival' skills and said we would all have made fantastic foragers and firelighters if we were to travel back to the Stone Age :-)
