Important Information

Admission arrangements 2020 / 21 - Consultation

When changes are proposed to admission arrangements, all admission authorities must consult on their admission arrangements that will apply for admission applications for the following school year at the normal point of entry. Where the admission arrangements have not changed from the previous year there is no requirement to consult subject to the requirement that admission authorities must consult on their admission arrangements at least once every 7 years, even if there have been no changes during that period.

Along with most schools in the borough, The Dove Academy Trust is consulting on its proposed admission arrangements for 2020/21 for St Mary’s Cockerton CE Primary School). The proposed arrangements can be viewed or downloaded here:

Any comments should be made by Monday 17th December 2018. Comments are not being sought on any area of the arrangements other than the addition of the oversubscription criterion of ‘Children in State Care’. 

The Dove Academy Trust consultation will run from 5th November to 17th December 2018.

Entry to school

Starting school in a reception class, can be an anxious time for both parents and children. We hope that the following information will help you to understand the process for choosing a school and applying for a place in school.

Admissions to schools in Darlington go through the admissions team at the Town Hall. Information about applying for a place at St. Mary's Cockerton can be found on Darlington Borough Council Website. Further information can be found in our Admission Policy (below).

Mid-Year School Admissions

To apply for a place in any year group during the course of an academic year, other than at the normal point of entry, then you MUST contact the Schools Admissions Team for information on school places. Parents will be sent and required to complete an in-year application form, as a formal request for a school place will only be considered.
