Red Nose Day

This year, Red Nose Day is on Friday 24th March and its purpose is to raise money to help less fortunate people in the UK and across Africa.

It is all about ‘making your laugh matter’ and we would like to support this popular fundraising event in school by doing just that.

On Friday 24th March, the children are welcome to leave their uniform at home and wear their own clothes to school. Remembering that the theme is ‘making your laugh matter’ we’d like everyone to wear something funny – odd socks, someone else’s clothes, colourful wigs ….. the possibilities are endless!! All we ask is that they bring a donation of £1.00 for the Red Nose Day charity. We will share the funniest outfits in Gold Book.

Red Nose Day - 'Comedy Club' joke competition

This year, Red Nose Day is on Friday 24th March and its purpose is to raise money to help less fortunate people in the UK and across Africa.

It is all about ‘making your laugh matter’ and we would like to support this popular fundraising event in school by doing just that.

Children are invited to enter our ‘Comedy Club’ joke competition. For 50p they can submit their funniest joke, along with their name and class, on a piece of paper to Mrs Aitken by Wednesday 22nd March. Our judges, Mrs Aitken, Mrs Boyce, Mr Joyeux and Sarah will shortlist St Mary’s Cockerton top ten list of jokes. During Friday’s Gold Book, the winning joke writers will share their joke with the whole school at our Red Nose Day Comedy Club! The children who sent in the winning jokes shall be awarded with a special prize but all of the entries will be displayed on the school website for everyone to enjoy. We must insist on only one entry per child, please.

Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day

We are inviting all pupils and staff to take part in Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 16 December.  The whole school will be taking part by wearing their favourite festive knits for the day, although you don't need to splash out on snazzy new sweaters to join the fun - simply decorate an old woolly to create your own crafty masterpiece!

We're asking pupils to make a £1 donation, or whatever they can give, to help save children's lives around the world.
