World Book Day

World Book Day takes place on Thursday 3 March 2016, and we would like to invite you to join us in helping your child to make the most of this special occasion. World Book Day celebrates the joy and value of books and reading, especially for children. To ensure Mrs Aitken can join in the fun with us we are asking children, (and staff) to come into school on Friday 4th March dressed as their favourite book character. We would love the children to come dressed as a book character rather than a superhero or a princess if at all possible.

We will also be holding a book swap amongst the classes. If your son/daughter would like to bring a book into school they no longer wish to keep, and would be happy to swap it for another book from a member of their class please remind them to bring it with them that morning (please ensure the book is age appropriate- thank you).

To help get them started on their reading journey, every child receives a £1 World Book Day Book Token that can either be exchanged for one of TEN special £1 World Book Day books or used to get £1 of any book costing £2.99 or more. You can find out more about the books at worldbookday.com/books.

I am looking forward to seeing the children in their costumes and to see how many of them I can guess correctly.

Thank you for your support

Mrs Barker
